Saw
#intothespiderverse last night... WOW! I am not a
#MilesMorales fan. Never was. I am now! Not
#marvelcomics version, though. I'm a fan of
#PhilLord's version of Miles. Where the comics are sterile and void of
#flava, Phil Lord gave us a Miles that is overflowing with personality, culture, and feeling that also permeates through his "verse." Lord's Miles is relatable in ways I've yet to see from the comic version. And, making his father a policeman instead of a SHIELD agent was a genius idea that was also in the Spider-Man PS4 game. (There were LOTS of similarities between the recent game and this movie, both produced by Sony.) Unlike
#HowardtheDuck and comic book Miles,
#SonyAnimation's Miles Morales is in a world he made, where he shines brightly. Where
#Marvel presented their
#spiderverse as a marketing tool to expand IP, Lord took that invention, changing it to exemplify
#SpiderMan and
#StanLee's message: "Anyone can wear the mask." (ie. Anyone can be a hero.) I loved this movie! I loved everything about it. I found it more inspiring than
#BlackPanther, and more relevant. Major - BIG, HUGE - props to
#Sony. Four years ago, everyone was screaming "Sony is killing the Spider-Man franchise!" In 2018, Sony gave us a kickass
#Venom movie, one of the best Spider-Man stories in the best Spider-Man video games ever made, what many are calling the best Spider-Man movie ever, and two versions of Miles Morales that are leaps and bounds beyond what Marvel Comics has published.
